ABSTRACT
The infection of CD4+ cells by HIV leads to the progressive destruction T lymphocytes and, after a severe reduction cells, AIDS. aim study was investigate whether HIV-infected patients with CD4 cell counts <200 cells/µl can suffer from symptoms IgE-mediated allergy, produce allergen-specific IgE antibody responses and show boosts production. ≤200 suffering AIDS allergy were studied. Allergy diagnosed according case history, physical examination, skin prick testing (SPT), serological analyses including allergen microarrays. confirmed serologically disease staged clinically. predominant allergic in studied acute rhinitis (73%) followed asthma (27%) due mast activation whereas no late phase such as atopic dermatitis, mainly cell-mediated manifestation, found According serology allergies house dust mites grass pollen most common besides sensitizations various food allergens. Interestingly, levels additional ten IgE-sensitized infections low appeared be boosted seasonal exposure not associated counts. Our results indicate that secondary production inflammation do require fully functional lymphocyte repertoire.
