ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effect of oxytetracycline (OTC) on anti-oxidative defense system, structure (hemolysis rate and morphology) function (ATP enzyme activity) human red blood cells (hRBCs) to investigate possible toxic mechanism OTC hRBCs. experimental results indicate that can cause a decline in antioxidant system hRBCs, resulting oxidative stress. bring about morphological changes further leads hemolysis, when concentration is over 8×10−5 M (about 164 µg/ml). At low concentration, below 4×10−5 (82 µg/ml), enhance activity ATP known as hormesis. However, at high above 82 enzymatic was inhibited, affecting estalished toxicity hRBCs facilitate deeper understanding vivo.
