ABSTRACT
Chromium occurs mostly in tri- and hexavalent states the environment. Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] compounds are extensively used diverse industries, trivalent [Cr(III)] salts as micronutrients dietary supplements. In present work, we report that they both induce genetic mutations yeast cells. They also cause DNA damage Jurkat cells effect of Cr(III) is greater than Cr(VI). We further show Cr(VI) through different mechanisms. intercalates interferes base pair stacking. Based on our results, conclude can directly genotoxicity vivo.
