ABSTRACT
Mucins are implicated in survival various cancers, but there have been no report addressed on appendiceal carcinoma, an uncommon disease with different clinical and pathological features from those of other colon cancers. We aimed to investigate the implications expression mucins carcinoma.Expression profiles MUC1, MUC2, MUC3, MUC4, MUC5AC, MUC6, MUC16 MUC17 cancer tissue were examined by immunohistochemistry 108 cases surgically resected carcinoma. The following relationships clinicopathologic factors identified: MUC1 positive lymphatic invasion (p = 0.036); MUC2 histological type (mucinous p<0.001), superficial depth 0.007), negative venous 0.003), curative resection 0.019); MUC3 non-curative 0.017); MUC5AC p 0.002), 0.021), 0.022); lymph node metastasis 0.035), (p<0.05), 0.035). A poor prognosis was related 0.04), 0.02), (p<0.001), 0.004). In multivariate analysis, (HR: 6.93, 95% CI: 1.93-24.96, 10.19, 3.05-34.07, p<0.001) 3.37, 1.13-10.03, 0.03) identified as significant independent prognostic patients carcinoma is factor for a useful predictor outcome after surgery.
