ABSTRACT
Purpose Using voxel-wise degree centrality (DC), as measured by resting-state fMRI, we aimed to study alterations in the brain functional networks patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) and reveal plastic trajectories of surgery. Methods A total 23 preoperative PACG (49.48 ± 14.37 years old) were recruited undergo a fMRI scan, 9 them rescanned 3 months after All underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, including intraocular pressure (IOP), retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, vertical cup disc ratio (V C/D), average (A C/D). Another gender- age-matched healthy controls (48.18 9.40 scanning once for comparison. The group difference DC was calculated each voxel, correlations between value clinical variables analyzed patients. Results Preoperative (pre-PACG) showed significantly decreased bilateral visual cortices but increased left anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) caudate (p < 0.05, corrected) compared controls. Statistical analysis negative correlation IOP score both C/D V scores pre-PACG Three surgery, these postoperative (post-PACG) precentral gyrus Conclusions Our results suggest that may contribute system cognition-emotional processing regions. Alterations areas seem parallel ratio, not duration angle closure. changes operation plasticity or degeneration visual-associated areas. findings provide further understanding pathophysiology PACG.
