Religion and HPV vaccine-related awareness, knowledge, and receipt among insured women aged 18-26 in Utah

ABSTRACT
We investigate the associations between religious practice and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine-related awareness, knowledge, receipt among young women in Utah.We surveyed 326 insured aged 18-26 by mail. Fisher's Exact Tests multivariable logistic regression models were used to evaluate relations HPV outcomes. Data collection occurred January-December 2013; analyses conducted June-September 2015.Multivariable reveal that when controlling for age, educational attainment, marital status, participants who practiced an organized religion significantly less likely have heard of (aOR = 0.25, p 0.0123), vaccine 0.41, 0.0368), know how is spread 0.45, 0.0074), received a provider recommendation 0.36, 0.0332), at least one 0.50, 0.0073) or all three 0.47, 0.0026) doses vaccine.
