ABSTRACT
To evaluate the long-term efficacy of intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction and complications Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation in patients with refractory glaucoma.Retrospective study. The study involved 302 glaucoma who underwent AGV had a minimum follow-up 6 months between March 1995 December 2013.An operation was defined as successful when (1) postoperative IOP remained 5 21 mmHg reduced 30% compared to baseline or without medication, (2) there no loss light perception vision-threatening severe complications, (3) additional filtering aqueous drainage surgery required. Clinical records were reviewed.IOP, anti-glaucoma medications, complications. The mean period 62.25 (range, 190 months). The cumulative probability success 89% at months, 81% 1 year, 66% 3 years, 44% 10 26% 15 years. from 32.2 ± 10.5 18.6 9.1 month, 15.2 7.0 14.2 3.5 Surgical failures significantly increased preoperative high, occurred after (P < 0.05).AGV for control refractive long term. However, rate decreased over time. Preoperative high related significant risk factors failure.
