ABSTRACT
Aim Interleukin-27 (IL-27) is involved in different inflammatory diseases; however, its role atherosclerosis unclear. In this study we investigated the expression of IL-27 and receptor patients with carotid if could modulate effects NLRP3 inflammasome vitro. Methods Plasma was measured by enzyme immunoassay stenosis (n = 140) healthy controls 19). Expression IL-27R analyzed quantitative PCR immunohistochemistry plaques from non-atherosclerotic vessels. THP-1 monocytes, primary monocytes peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were used to Results Our main findings were: (i) levels significantly elevated atherosclerotic disease compared controls. (ii) Gene control vessels, co-localized macrophages. (iii) vitro, increased activation enhanced release IL-1 β. Conclusions We demonstrate atherosclerosis. vitro suggest an for IL-27, which can possibly be linked development.
