ABSTRACT
Mentha piperita L. essential oil (EO) is employed for external use as antipruritic, astringent, rubefacient and antiseptic. Several studies demonstrated its significant antiviral, antifungal antibacterial properties. The aim of this work the study synergistic effects M. EO with antibacterials antifungals that are widely available currently prescribed in therapies against infections. observed strong synergy may constitute a potential new approach to counter increasing phenomenon multidrug resistant bacteria fungi. In vitro efficacy association EO/drugs was evaluated large panel Gram-positive Gram-negative yeast strains. antimicrobial were studied by checkerboard microdilution method. effect gentamicin resulted growth inhibition all bacterial species under study. less pronounced.
