ABSTRACT
Background Diabetes education has been found to impact positively on self-management by people with diabetes although little is known about the process which they assimilate information. The aim of this study was generate a theory explaining learn their disease in Indonesia. Methods This employed grounded methodology influenced constructivism and symbolic interactionism. A total twenty-eight face-to-face or telephone interviews participants from Indonesia that included diabetes, healthcare professionals, health service providers families were conducted both Australia. Results discloses core category Learning, choosing, acting: as basic social how diabetes. includes five distinctive major categories. People acted after had received recommendations considered be trustworthy. Factors choice adopt are also identified.
