ABSTRACT
Self-concept influences identity and the way that people behave, it fluctuates over time. The main purpose of this study was to analyze fluctuations in dimensions self-concept as a function gender, educational level, grade, age, physical activity, weight. In total, 712 Spanish adolescents who were 5th 8th grades (354 boys 358 girls) 10 14 years old (M = 11.9; SD 1.3) participated study. Self-Concept Questionnaire, Form 5 used several (academic, social, emotional, family, physical), using average scores each dimension. data showed strong differences during school transition. Middle-school students, compared elementary-school significantly lower levels almost all physical). Furthermore, student age negative predictor social academic dimensions, explaining 33% 37% variance, respectively. Educational level grade smaller factors influencing dimension (explaining 29% 25% respectively). findings revealed transition and, specifically, increased associated with self-concept. These results help us understand need strengthen psychological at school.
