ABSTRACT
The cervical microbiota constitutes an important protective barrier against the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms. A disruption within milieu has been suggested to be a driving factor sexually transmitted infections. These include Chlamydia trachomatis which frequently causes serious reproductive sequelae such as infertility in women. In this study, we profiled microbial composition population 70 reproductive-age Malaysian women; among 40 (57.1%) were diagnosed with genital C. infection, and 30 (42.8%) without infection. Our findings showed distinct compositional difference between trachomatis-infected subjects Specifically, significant elevations mostly strict facultative anaerobes Streptococcus, Megasphaera, Prevotella, Veillonella trachomatis-positive women detected. results from current study highlights interaction environmental microbiome endocervical region.
