ABSTRACT
In Argentina, HIV prevalence among transgender women (TGW) has been reported at 34%. The stigma is one of the most important factors limiting their access to healthcare services. aims this study were compare different testing methodologies, determine associated with diagnosis and feasibility a home-based service for TGW.A multidisciplinary team performed interventions in four cities Argentina. Participants self-identified as TGW, older than 14 years negative or unknown status. Blood samples screened by two rapid tests (RT), based on antibodies (Determine™ HIV-1/2) other antigen HIV-1/2 Combo), subsequent blood processing via 4th generation ELISA (VIDAS DUO). All reactive confirmed viral load (VL). We compared results both RT ELISA. Samples pooled groups 6 VL (Abbott Real Time) identify acute infections. Factors infection evaluated multivariate logistic regression analysis.A total 260 TGW tested, 51 tested positive (HIV 19.6%). There no discordant between RTs nor ELISA, therefore correlation was 100%. identified 2 additional samples. final analytic sample cases consisted 53 TGW. analysis, result history sexually transmitted infections (STIs) not being previously HIV. first time 4 times greater risk those that previously.A feasible effective detect infection. algorithm should start an followed molecular diagnosis. STIs never having HIV-positive efforts reach population. Home-based reaches individuals before who have more acquiring
