Exploring the young demographic profile of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong: Evidence from migration and travel history data

ABSTRACT
This paper investigates the profile of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong, highlighting unique age structure confirmed compared to other territories. While majority most territories around world have fitted an older profile, our analysis shows that positive Kong been concentrated among younger groups, with largest incidence reported 15–24 group. is despite population's rapidly aging and extremely high levels population density. Using detailed case data from Kong's Centre for Health Department Immigration Department, we analyze sex distribution along their recent travel histories immigration flows period January April 2020. Our highlights proportion imported large overseas student developing hotspot areas such as United Kingdom. Combined community action targeted aggressive early policy measures taken contain virus, these factors may contributed uniquely city. Consequently, this young prevented fatalities territory.
