ABSTRACT
The tear matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) immunoassay (Inflammadry) exhibits variable results in dry eye (DE) patients. We investigated if the volume DE patients affects of MMP-9 clinical and vitro settings. This cross-sectional study enrolled 188 eyes symptoms signs were assessed using Ocular Surface Disease Index visual analog scale, strip meniscometry, break-up time, meniscus height (TMH), area (TMA), depth (TMD) swept-source optical coherence tomography corneal conjunctival staining scores. For quantitative evaluation, bands produced by InflammaDry test analyzed with ImageJ. subjects grouped according to positivity TMH. InflammaDry-positive group showed greater TMH, TMA, TMD than MMP-9-negative (p < 0.05). band density high TMH was significantly that low normal groups correlated positively (all p influenced volume. Low aqueous tear-deficient may induce false-negative results, reflex tearing during false-positive results.
