Status of the WHO recommended timing and frequency of antenatal care visits in Northern Bangladesh

ABSTRACT
Objective There is dearth of information on the timeliness antenatal care (ANC) uptake. This study aimed to determine timely ANC uptake by a medically trained provider (MTP) as per World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations and country guideline. Methods Cross-sectional survey was done with 2,731 women having livebirth outcome in last one year Dinajpur, Nilphamari Rajshahi districts, Bangladesh from August-November,2016. Results About 82%(2,232) received at least MTP. Overall, 78%(2,142) 4 or more ANCs any 43%(1168) Only 14%(378) their first 1 st trimester As schedule visits WHO FANC model guideline 8%(203) 20%(543) respectively 2 MTP; where only 1%(32) 3%(72) 3 0.6%(17) 1%(29) all four visits. Factors significantly associated two are: 10 above years schooling [adj.
