ABSTRACT
To assess the rate of pseudophakic cystoid macular edema (pCME) in uneventful cataract surgery surgeons training vs experienced and to analyze pCME according surgeon's sex.Medical reports post phacoemulsification between 2010 2018 at Department Ophthalmology, Medical University Graz, Austria, were reviewed for pCME. A running lifetime number preceding surgeries was used express hands-on experience. cut-off 300 defined distinguish surgeons. Outcome parameters incidence pCME, patient's sex age, laterality eye, coexistence pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX), duration sex.25.422 on 18.266 patients included. The majority performed by (23.139, 91.0%) 2.283 (9.0%) (25 surgeons, 9 (36%) female 16 (64%) male). occurred 32 eyes (1.4%) following 152 (0.7%) Chance 1.57 higher (95% CI 1.03-2.41, p = 0.034) longer (OR 1.04; 95% 1.02-1.07, 0.001). After excluding first 100 every surgeon similar results observed. No difference risk found male both groups (training surgeons). In conclusion, after is significantly but steadily decreasing associated surgical time.
