ABSTRACT
Material of the antiarch placoderm Bothriolepis from middle Givetian Valentia Slate Formation in Iveragh Peninsula, Ireland, is described and attributed to a new species, B. dairbhrensis sp. nov. A revision genus proposed, its taxonomic content previous phylogenetic analyses are reviewed, as well validity morphologic characteristics considered important for establishment genus, such shape preorbital recess neurocranium. series computerised was performed, which reveals that our species sister taxon Frasnian Scottish form gigantea. New biogeographic together with comparisons between faunal assemblages reveal first northward dispersal wave Gondwana Euramerica at latest mid Givetian. Other Euramerican seem belong later waves Gondwana, non-excluding southward Euramerica. Questions remain open stratigraphic constraints most ancient forms China, around highly speciose nature genus.
