ABSTRACT
Daikenchuto (DKT) has positive therapeutic effects on improving various gastrointestinal disorders. The present study investigated whether or not DKT a potential effect chemotherapy-induced acute small intestinal mucositis (CIM) in rat model.Intraperitoneal injection of 10 mg/kg methotrexate (MTX) every 3 days for total doses was used induction CIM model. MTX and DKT-MTX groups were injected with as above from the first day, administered 2.7% via diet at same time. rats euthanized day 15.The group showed an improvement body weight conditions disorders well increased levels diamine oxidase plasma villi. pathology results that mucosal injury less severe than group. Immunohistochemistry myeloperoxidase malondialdehyde quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) TGF-β1 HIF-1α attenuated peroxidative damage. crypts contained more Ki-67-positive cells zonula occluden-1 claudin-3 promoted repair barrier. RT-qPCR amino acid transporters EAAT3 BO+AT also confirmed thus nutrient absorption.DKT protected against MTX-induced model by reducing inflammation, stimulating cell proliferation, stabilizing
