ABSTRACT
Background Despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine coupled with awareness potential risk Healthcare Workers acquiring Hepatitis B Virus infection, some HCWs never get vaccinated. Generally, hepatitis vaccination coverage globally is below expected level as adherence has remained poor in various healthcare settings, especially developing countries. The objective this study was to assess completion three-dose virus cycle associated factors among workers Greater Accra Region Ghana. Methods materials An analytical cross-sectional conducted included 363 selected using probability sampling procedures. participants were recruited from five facilities within first half 2018. A pretested questionnaire used collect data which analyzed SPSS version 21. proportion receiving recommended 3 doses computed. multivariable analysis procedure identified receipt three vaccine. Odds ratios estimated corresponding confidence intervals significance set at 0.05. Results total 340 sample units analysis. Most (252/340, 74.1%) females, mainly nurses/midwives (162/340, 47.6%) mean age 34.5 (SD ±7.7). high (82.7%) have tertiary/post-tertiary education ever participated least one training workshop on prevention blood-borne infections (80.6%). Overall uptake 60.9% (207/340) (95% CI = 55.7%-66.1%). Complete (three doses) 46.8% (159/340). High-risk perception (AOR 4.0; 95% 1.3–12.5), previous infection 2.8; 1.1–7.5) significantly Conclusion Adherence cycles not universal Region. Receipt regimen high-risk attendance infectious disease prevention. Interventions increase could improve complete/full protocol who are constant exposure virus.
