ABSTRACT
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a relevant opportunistic and difficult to treat pathogen due its widespread environmental diffusion, intrinsic resistance many classes of antimicrobials, high ability acquire additional mechanisms, wide range pathogenic factors. The present study aimed investigate the prevalence P. in canine clinical samples, antimicrobial susceptibility against antipseudomonal antibiotics, presence extracellular factors isolates, as well their produce biofilm.Overall, 300 specimens from dogs with pyoderma or abscesses (n=58), otitis (n=59), suspected bladder infection (n=183) were analyzed by standard bacteriological methods. isolates tested for disk gradient diffusion methods determine minimum inhibitory concentrations. biofilm was investigated microtiter plate assay, while virulence genes coding elastase (lasB), exotoxin A (toxA), alkaline protease (aprA), hemolytic phospholipase C (plcH), exoenzyme S (ExoS) detected polymerase chain reaction method.A total 24 found (urine n=3, skin/soft tissue n=6, ear canal n=15). No ceftazidime, gentamicin, aztreonam, imipenem (IMI), low levels enrofloxacin (ENR) (4.2%) piperacillin-tazobactam (8.3%). However, 41.7% 29.2% showed intermediate ENR IMI, respectively. Disk concordance. majority revealed weak (33.3%) (45.8%) form biofilm, strong producers (20.8%) derived exclusively samples. All (100%) positive lasB, aprA, plcH genes, exoS toxA amplified 21 (87.5%) 22 (91.7%) respectively. In study, samples characterized drugs. some categories including carbapenems which are not authorized veterinary use, could represent an early warning signal. Moreover, represents challenge interpretation profile. In addition, indicative potential isolates.
