ABSTRACT
This paper presents a compression scheme developed for the transport of downlink radio signals in packet fronthaul centralized-radio access networks (C-RAN). The technique is tailored to frequency-domain functional splits, which inactive LTE (or 5G NR) resource elements may not be transmitted packets. allows decreasing link data rate, especially when cell load low. based on two parts: transmission side information indicate active and LTE, nonuniform scalar quantization compress QAM symbols elements. method was implemented OpenAirInterface (OAI) software real-time evaluation. testbed results show significant reduction usage with low computational cost.
