Characteristics of primary hyperparathyroidism in young patients

ABSTRACT
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is well studied in elderly patients. Studies of PHPT characteristics children, adolescents, and young adults are rare. In some these studies, investigators have compared clinical laboratory between patients revealed several differences. An early onset may indicate familial syndromes associated with PHPT. These include: multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 1, 2A, 4, hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor syndrome, hypocalciuric hypercalcemia, isolated hyperparathyroidism. However, the need for routine genetic tests to exclude all manifested at a age not obvious. To date, there few foreign studies on testing PHPT, but their results controversial. Our review summarizes data Russian disease age.
