ABSTRACT
We evaluated risk factors and frailty assessments to identify fall-prone geriatric patients in the emergency department (ED).This prospective study included 264 consecutive aged ≥65 years who presented ED. The participants were divided into those had fallen or not. patient groups compared terms of age, sex, presenting complaints (falls vs. others), comorbidities, medications, assessment tools, orthostatic hypotension (OH).In total, included: 129 (48.8%) 135 (51.2%) hadn't fallen. mean ages not 80.48±8.38 79.42±7.94 years, respectively. In addition, 62.01% (n=80) 51.85% (n=70) females. There no statistically significant differences between age sex (P=0.290 P=0.096, respectively). 89.92% (n=116) at least one chronic medical condition. was a difference proportion with OH groups. Frailty scores such as Edmonton Frail Scale, Non-Disabled Questionnaire, PRISMA-7 questionnaire, Identification Seniors Risk test, Rockwood Clinical Scale also significantly different A higher score admission found be an independent predictor fall risk.Falls occur more frequently older population scores, except for FRESH associated falls patients. After elimination non-significant variables multivariate analysis, high questionnaire identified risk.
