ABSTRACT
The reproductive phenology of Hypnea musciformis (Wulfen) Lamouroux was analyzed, over a period two years, in subtidal epiphytic populations located Sepetiba Bay and another intertidal epilithic population on shore exposed to the open sea. All sites are Rio de Janeiro State. These investigations suggest that this species asexual reproduction predominates sexual reproduction. There more vegetative than thalli under environmentally stressful conditions for growth. Cystocarpic plants were only collected from always represented by low proportion biomass whereas male not found. rarity gametophytes can probably be explained replacement via apomixis or
