ABSTRACT
Arginase (L-arginine amidinohydrolase, EC 3.5.3.1) is the key enzyme in urea synthesis, hydrolyzing L-arginine into L-ornithine and urea. modulates levels of nitric oxide, creatine, creatinine, likely by regulating intracellular availability. The objective present study was to determine arginase activity concentration creatinine colostrum mature human milk obtained from nursing mothers. Our longitudinal biochemical analyses show that activities concentrations were highest at first day lactation (colostrum). decreasing start second day, remaining this level until end month (30th day). did not significantly change. alteration between may be a consequence transfer blood breast mother mammary glands milk. nutrients undergo alterations, probably satisfy requirements infant for arginine, essential amino acids body growth, normal physiology.
