ABSTRACT
Herrero, AJ, Martín, J, T, Abadía, O, Fernández, B, and García-López, D. Short-term effect of strength training with without superimposed electrical stimulation on muscle anaerobic performance. A randomized controlled trial. Part I. J Strength Cond Res 24(6): 1609-1615, 2010-The purpose this study was to compare electromyostimulation (EMS) power. Twenty-eight subjects were assigned to: weight + EMS (ES), (VOL), or control group (CG). ES VOL performed 4 sessions per week during weeks a knee extension machine (8 sets; 8 repetitions; 1-second concentric phase from 90° 0°, eccentric 0° 90°, rest at 90°; 3-minute between 70% maximal voluntary contraction). Group received in the each action (120 Hz, 400 microseconds). Before training, after 2 end (detraining), contraction, squat jump, countermovement jump (CMJ), free arms (CMJA), 20-m sprint time analyzed. After period, increased their (40.2% 31.4%, respectively, p < 0.001). detraining gain remained above baseline values for (49.1% 24.5%, Changes higher than (p 0.01). Anaerobic performance not affected by any group, but percentage change suggests that CMJ CMJA impaired respect CG. Superimposed onto contractions increases more alone; nevertheless, period should be respected observe delayed adaptation. To improve power EMS, complementary specific work such as plyometrics carried out.
