Received Social Support and Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms in New Zealand and Philippine Emergency Responders

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Emergency responders are at risk of post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). This study investigates the relationship between different components received social support (RSS) and PTSS in these occupations. Method: cross-sectional involved emergency from New Zealand Philippines (n=223). Participants answered an online questionnaire measuring PTSS. Results: High amount total was significantly associated with lower levels Analyses RSS revealed that co-worker, emotional, tangible exhibited salutary main effects on Furthermore, high amounts supervisors were found to be low only among participants who reported trauma exposure. Discussion: Findings congruent model RSS. Results also underscored importance investigating varied manifestations as they may differentially influence strength receiving by responders.
