ABSTRACT
To test a Chinese character version of the phonemic verbal fluency task in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and assess deficiency pattern TLE without hippocampal sclerosis, cross-sectional study was conducted including 30 sclerosis (TLE-HS), 28 (TLE-NHS), 29 demographically matched healthy controls (HC). Both sexes were enrolled. Participants finished (VFC) during functional MRI. The activation/deactivation maps, connectivity, degree centrality, community features left frontal regions compared. A neural network classification model applied to differentiate TLE-HS TLE-NHS using statistics. VFC scores correlated semantic HC while TLE-NHS. Activation deactivation observed ( p < 0.001, k ≥ 10). Functional anterior inferior gyri impaired retained or even enhanced 0.05, FDR-corrected). connectivity reached an area under curve 0.90 diagnosing sclerosis. is suitable for clinical application TLE. During task, circuits TLE-NHS, representing compensative searching strategy by
