ABSTRACT
In previous experiments it has been demonstrated that the synthesis of BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) and NGF in neurons hippocampus is regulated by neuronal activity. The glutamate system predominantly responsible for upregulation GABAergic downregulation both vitro vivo (Zafra et al., 1990, 1991). aim present study to examine extent which cholinergic also involved regulation mRNA whether regulatory contribution changes during development. Partial transection fimbria fornix bundle second postnatal week resulted a reduction levels hippocampus, suggesting septal input hippocampal levels. Because contains fibers other than ones, we further evaluated importance influence injecting pilocarpine, muscarinic agonist. Pilocarpine markedly increased early adult rats. situ hybridization pilocarpine led an increase expression CA1-CA4 regions dentate gyrus. However, only those gyrus expressed controls.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
