ABSTRACT
Abstract Brassinosteroids (BRs) are important plant hormones involved in many aspects of development. Here, we show that BRASSINOSTEROID SIGNALING KINASEs (BSKs), key components the BR pathway, precisely controlled via de‐S‐acylation mediated by defense hormone salicylic acid (SA). Most Arabidopsis BSK members substrates S‐acylation, a reversible protein lipidation is essential for their membrane localization and physiological function. We establish SA interferes with plasma function BSKs decreasing S‐acylation levels, identifying ABAPT11 (ALPHA/BETA HYDROLASE DOMAIN‐CONTAINING PROTEIN 17‐LIKE ACYL THIOESTERASE 11) as an enzyme whose expression quickly induced SA. de‐S‐acylates most family members, thus integrating signaling control In summary, BSK‐mediated regulated SA‐induced de‐S‐acylation, which improves our understanding modifications cross talk.
