ABSTRACT
Objective: There is convincing evidence that parental rules about alcohol are important in curbing adolescents' use. However, little known the mechanisms through which direct link between alcohol-specific parenting and use obtained. In this study, we investigated mediating effect of adolescent self-control on relationship drinking behavior whether mediation depends level quality communication. Method: A total 883 adolescents participated longitudinal study at ages 13, 14, 15 years. Results: Strict predicted lower rates drinking, but no communication was found. higher related to adolescents. The indirect statistically significant, yet only with high qualitative parent—child alcohol. low parent-child communication, not drinking.
