ABSTRACT
Three types of beta adrenergic receptors (ARβ1-3) mediate the sympathetic activation brown adipose tissue (BAT), key thermogenic site for mice which is also present in adult humans. In this study, we evaluated adaptive thermogenesis and metabolic profile a mouse with Arβ2 knockout (ARβ2KO). At room temperature, ARβ2KO have normal core temperature and, upon acute cold exposure (4 °C 4 h), accelerate energy expenditure normally attempt to maintain body temperature. exhibited interscapular BAT thermal profiles during 30-min infusion norepinephrine or dobutamine, possibly due marked elevation (iBAT) Arβ1, Arβ3 mRNA levels. addition, exhibit similar weight, adiposity, fasting plasma glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides when compared WT controls, but hyperinsulinemia hepatic Pepck (Pck1) The animals were fed high-fat diet (40% fat) 6 weeks, doubled their caloric intake, accelerated expenditure, induced Ucp1 expression manner exhibiting weight gain increase size white adipocytes controls. However, hyperglycemia as controls despite very elevated insulin levels, degrees liver steatosis hyperlipidemia. conclusion, inactivation pathway preserves cold- diet-induced disrupts glucose homeostasis by accelerating production secretion. Feeding on worsens imbalance, significant structure lipid
