ABSTRACT
Photodynamic therapy is a therapeutic modality capable of selectively inducing cytotoxic effects in malignant cells. Such are obtained by using laser or lamp as light source to irradiate previously-delivered photosensitizer into the tumoral Since clinical application photodynamic depends on penetration, lasers and lamps can only be used for shallow tissue treatment. To overcome this limitation, x-ray induced has been recently proposed. The goal work investigate interactions medium containing homogeneous concentration distinct photosensitizers. This achieved evaluating relative doses energy spectra, at depths means Monte Carlo simulations. Preliminary results dose showed minor increase, approximately 0.15%, when photosensitizers used. In addition, with investigated mostly occur from photons energies below 60 keV.
