Assessment of knowledge of celiac disease among health care professionals

ABSTRACT
<h3>Objectives:</h3> To assess knowledge of celiac disease among medical professionals (physicians). <h3>Methods:</h3> We conducted a cross-sectional survey hospital-based staff in primary, secondary, and tertiary care public, private hospitals Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (KSA). carried out the study between January 2013 2104 at King Khalid University Hospital, Saud University, KSA. A pretested questionnaire was distributed to potential participants. scoring system used classify level participants into 3 categories: poor, fair, good. <h3>Results:</h3> total 109 physicians completed these participants, 86.3% were from public hospitals, 13.7% hospitals; 58.7% males. Of physicians, 19.2% had poor knowledge. Interns residents fair good knowledge, but registrars, specialists, even consultants less knowledgeable disease. <h3>Conclusion:</h3> Knowledge is significant number including consultants, which can potentially lead delays diagnosis. Educational programs need be developed improve awareness health profession.
