ABSTRACT
To investigate the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic management choledochal cysts compared with open approach, even in early childhood. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study 206 patients between June 2003 May 2015. Of these, 104 underwent cyst excision hepaticojejunostomy (open operation [OP]) 102 received (laparoscopic [LP]). The who approach were further divided by age 3 years. patients' perioperative follow-up conditions 2 approaches groups. Results: All cured no incidence mortality. operating time was significantly longer LP (OP: 225.4±51.0 min versus LP: 170.3±35.4 min, p=0.000), but blood loss (LP: 12.9±22.9 ml OP: 32.4±52.7 ml, p=0.001) larger OP. number days to normal oral feeding 3.3±0.9 dyas 4.1±0.9 days, p=0.000) postoperative stay-in-ward duration 7.5±2.7 9.6±5.5 shorter LP. There significant differences among all above tests younger older (p greater than 0.05). Conclusions: Laparoscopic is safe effective, for young children. With advantages less loss, smaller trauma, recovery time, improved cosmetic features, it worth considering its widespread application.
