Factors affecting pregnancy weight gain and relationships with maternal/fetal outcomes in Turkey

ABSTRACT
To determine the effects of pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational weight gain on maternal fetal complications, to examine whether Turkish women achieve recommended gain. We also investigated relationship between pregnancy mode delivery, with an examination anthropometry. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted a population 986 pregnant November 2011 2015 at Atatürk Education Research Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. Maternal age, BMI, monthly during pregnancy, infant birth weight, gender, adverse outcomes were evaluated. Results: The frequency complications positively associated elevated BMI (p less than 0.05), parity increased 0.05). However, no correlations observed mean greater percentage who gained Institute Medicine (IOM)-recommended amount highest in underweight group (54.1%) lowest obese (24.3%). Pregnancy exceeded IOM recommendations overweight (56.3%) (52.5%) groups. Conclusions: While affects neonatal higher has effect complications.
