ABSTRACT
Tracheal stenosis is the most common severe late complication of percutaneous tracheostomy causing significant decrease in quality life. Applying modified Griggs technique reduced number tracheal stenoses observed our clinical study. The aim this study was to investigate mechanism relationship.Forty-six cadavers were randomized into two groups according mode intervention during 2006-2008. Traditional versus applied consequently. Wider incision, surgical preparation, and bidirectional forceps dilation wall technique. Injured cartilages inspected by sight touch Age, gender, level intervention, injured registered.Significantly less frequent cartilage injury after (9%) than original (91%) (p < 0.001). A moderate association between increasing age observed, whereas = 0.445) gender 0.35) not related injury. Risk decreased significantly (OR: 0.0264, 95%, CI: 0.005-0.153) with as determined adjusted logistic regression model.Modified risk cadaver This observation may explain application method.
