ABSTRACT
The Life Sciences Learning Center (LSLC) is a hands-on science outreach center located at the University of Rochester’s School Medicine and Dentistry (UR-SMD) in Rochester, NY. LSLC provides hands-on, case-based learning to boost literacy increase enthusiasm toward learning. offers on-site in-school programs for secondary students (grades 6-12) has developed wide variety online curriculum materials that can be used classrooms informal education settings. model sustainability with over 20 years funding through combination sources including numerous grant awards from National Institutes Health (NIH) private foundations. was awarded its first five NIH Science Education Partnership Awards (SEPA) 1998, which would prove key source sustainability. widely disseminated nationwide teacher professional development online.
