ABSTRACT
Deep learning, the most important subfield of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) over last decade, is considered one fundamental technologies underpinning Fourth Industrial Revolution. But despite its record-breaking history, deep learning’s enormous appetite for compute data means that sometimes it can be too costly to practically use. In this paper, we connect technical insights from scaling laws transfer with economics IT propose a framework estimating cost computer vision systems achieve desired level accuracy. Our tool practical use AI practitioners in industry or academia guide investment decisions.
