ABSTRACT
X-ray radiography has been used to examine the dependence of near-nozzle fuel distribution diesel sprays on injection pressure and ambient density. Measurements from two nozzles with different geometries, one extensively hydroground other minimally hydroground, have obtained show how geometries respond changes in density rail pressure. The spray penetration near nozzle demonstrates little density, but a strong Comparison these results standard correlations literature that region examined this study, is expected width becomes much larger for both as increases. Rescaling axial position by square root ratio between gas accounts trends nozzles. data can also be determine relative steady-state, mass-averaged velocity spray. decays more rapidly distance trend decay
