ABSTRACT
Nematode parasites were encountered in kosher-certified fish meat and roe, the question was raised as to whether or not these food products kosher concerns preparation standards—a matter that pertains identity and, by extension, life cycle of parasites. To ascertain identities parasitic nematodes, given distorted damaged nature specimens, molecular techniques applied form DNA barcoding. our knowledge, this is first application technique an obviously cultural concern opposed one health economic significance. Results, based both on cytochrome c oxidase subunits I II, suggested parasite species found are anisakine do inhabit intestinal lumen hosts examined. Thus, there no evidence failure adhere practices consistent with proscriptions Orthodox Judaism. Notwithstanding success barcoding determining at least higher taxonomic parasites, some shortcomings pipeline it nematode encountered; specifically, paucity data available for locus, even very common taxa.
