ABSTRACT
Livestock production and the replacement of semi-natural grasslands by crops result in land use changes as consequence some habitat is no longer suitable for all species grassland birds. Although generalist could benefit from such changes, alteration detrimental to populations most sensitive species. In this study, we investigated patterns breeding birds through assessment their presence/absence abundance a landscape composed croplands southern Brazil Uruguay. We sampled 160 100-m radius point counts: 80 dominated soybean fields with patches. classified vegetation cover on buffer following three classes use: grasslands, wet fields. used GLMM analyze found region. Nine showed positive response and/or categories. Five recorded are conservation concern. Most bird preferred sites high only one primarily Grassland required around 80% maintain larger abundances. Research across landscapes better understanding responses modification still needed establish practices natural avifauna
