ABSTRACT
ISG15 is induced by conceptus-derived interferon-τ in the endometrium on days 15–45 of pregnancy. It was hypothesized that pregnancy induces blood cell gene expression and low mRNA levels provide an indication non-pregnant cows day 18. Blood collected either 18 ( n = 78) or 15–21, 25, 32 21; serial collection) from dairy following artificial insemination (AI). Plasma progesterone concentration determined using RIA. were real-time PCR. Pregnancy diagnosed transrectal ultrasound. increased after 16, peaked at 20 then declined to 16 AI. The average rate 43% based mRNA. 33% Lower during collections 100% accurate predicting However, detection yielded 78% accuracy pregnant cows, while 58% accuracy. Average plasma status according ultrasound consistently higher (> 4 ng/ml) when compared with 15 32, except 16. concluded collection 17 25 serves as indicator are not pregnant, thus allowing re-synchronization insemination.
