ABSTRACT
In normal human livers obtained in surgical operations the sinusoidal wall has been observed with electron microscope. The "endothelial cells" and "Kupffer lining sinusoid are regarded as two functional states of same cell lineage show alike ultrastructures suggesting phagocytic activity. They differ from each other especially that endothelial cells consist distinct portions, perikaryon sheet-like cytoplasmic extension, latter occupying major part lining, while Kupffer simple rounded-up form bulking into lumen; sheets extend to body contact latter. On hand, marginal ends on neighboring may overlap like roof tiles. both connections there occur no structures terminal bars desmosomes. The which is discontinuous because presence intracellular gaps or pores lacking general continuous basement membrane, a rule layer. Frequent figures stratified caused for most by occurrence subendothelial fat-storing thin processes if reinforce lining. The perisinusoidal Disse's space filled blood plasm filtered through sinusoid. This represents blood-tissue barrier liver contains, besides abundant microvilli hepatocytes collagen reticular fibers fibrils, cells, unmyelinated nerve their Schwann occasional round, probably hemopoietic cells. constant residents frequently recesses between hepatocytes. own membrane directly fibers, sometimes embraced invaginations plasma membrane. send out considerable number interlace Close contacts even surfaces occasionally encountered. The possess relatively well-developed Golgi complex containing diplosome, sparse small mitochondria, fairly elements granular endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, glycogen particles and, occasionally, single cilium arises one paired centrioles diplosome.
