Anesthetic considerations of Joubert syndrome in patients with mitochondrial disease - A case report -

ABSTRACT
Joubert syndrome and mitochondrial disease are rare congenital diseases in which a wide range of symptoms affects multiple organs. Patients with these present characteristic related to the musculoskeletal, respiratory, neurological systems, make it difficult for anesthesiologists manage patient's airway choose appropriate anesthetic drugs. A 13-year-old male patient underwent elective surgery insert continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis catheter. Anesthesia was induced maintained propofol, remifentanil, rocuronium. An I-gel inserted secure airway; however, fitting did not work properly, so intubated. The operation completed without any major problems, intubated transferred intensive care unit. Anesthesiologists should determine method anesthesia prepare unintended complications based on full understanding diseases.
