Short-term voiding patterns after vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair

ABSTRACT
Background: Post-operative transient voiding dysfunction is a known complication of vaginal hysterectomy (VH) with pelvic floor repair (PFR). This study aims to determine the duration urinary catheterization prior resumption normal and hospital length stay for patients who have undergone VH, PFR or without concomitant application transvaginal mesh (TVM) and/or mid-urethral sling (MUS).Methods: retrospective cohort women underwent VH at single urogynaecology centre in Singapore between 01 October 2016 30 September 2017. Patients’ files were reviewed data collection analysis.Results: A total 238 studied, whom 68 (28.6%) did not any implant, 60 (25.2%) had only TVM, 50 (21.0%) MUS, both TVM MUS. Overall, 1/68 (1.5%) implants, 16/110 (14.5%) one implant 13/60 (21.7%) two implants failed least 1 inpatient trial. Patients undergoing shorter compared those (2.2 versus 5.6 days, p<0.01). Duration was MUS (3.5 4.7 significantly (4.2 p=0.001).Conclusions: One experienced short term difficulties. risk increased 5 when inserted.
