ABSTRACT
The Xitle volcano is part of the Quaternary Chichinautzin volcanic field, located in southern portion Valley Mexico. The lavas were emplaced on archaeological site Cuicuilco, one first urban settlements Preclassic period Mexico. This eruption had a great impact, since it caused economic and social changes, favoring consolidation Teotihuacan as dominant city Mexico.Available radiometric studies place age between 4000 to 1500 years BP (before present) there evidence that Cuicuilco abandonment was due an 200 BC (Before Christ) AD (Anno Domini/ after without exact definition about this event. Therefore, contributing accuracy continues be interest. The results new archaeomagnetic dating rock samples from sequence lava flows within campus University Mexico (UNAM) are presented below.A full geomagnetic vector field prediction model SHA.DIF.14K used for such determinations. Two eruptive periods identified, 1742 1491 second, related volcano, 79 595 AD.The second compatible with hypothesis gradual coincides accepted ages volcano᾿s most important period.
