Using Crushed Glass with Sand as a Single and Dual Filter Media for Removal of Turbidity from Drinking Water

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research is trying to find that environmentally and economically efficient way for reuse industrial solid wastes glass as an alternative filter media sand remove turbidity from drinking water.It required set a pilot filtration unit which included mainly three transparent columns.It was used the synthetic turbid water consisted media.The first second filters represent single sand, respectively.The third represents dual at bottom layer top layer.The glass-sand have maximum removal efficiency in comparison with filter.The efficiencies filter, are 94% 95%, 87%, respectively, influent 25 NTU rate 5 m/h.Statistical analysis using stepwise multiple linear regression models had been carried out by utilizing (DataFit, version 9. 1. 32) program give good matching between measured predicted values simulated glass, determination coefficient (R² ) equal
