ABSTRACT
Salmonella spp. are important foodborne pathogens often associated with infectious outbreaks caused by consuming contaminated food. Although these microorganisms widely distributed in several animal production chains, there few records of their occurrence aquaculture. This study aimed to evaluate the presence and antimicrobial resistance isolated from fish farms. Samples were collected three farms, covering water, fish, epilithic biofilm. isolates identified PCR, serotyping was performed using slide agglutination method, according Kaufman-White system. Susceptibility agents assessed Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method. The class 1 2 integrons determined PCR. Ninety samples examined, which 13 (14.44%) positive for S. enterica, 5 strains lagoon 3 Among samples, serotypes Minnesota, Panamá, Anatum identified. Antimicrobial rates highest sulfonamides (92.30%), trimethoprim (84.61%), tetracycline (46.15%), streptomycin (46.15%). Multiple antibiotic confirmed 84.61% isolates, 100% presenting integron 7.69% 2. demonstrated a high prevalence multiresistant bacteria reinforces public health concerns due use antibiotics risk food farmed freshwater fish. Given results, need new external research into control prevention strategies is evident. aquaculture, as well greater regulation chains.
